About
Allow me to share the story behind the inception of Curvy Collections
Whenever I experience boredom, I seem to counteract it with creativity, and this is precisely what happened to me during our recent Covid Lockdown.
Being a tall woman, I’ve perpetually struggled with the challenge of finding clothing that fits just right. For instance, pants often fall short and end up in a comical disagreement with my shoes, provoking a good laugh! Another ordeal lies in shopping for tops; I constantly struggled to locate ones long enough to gracefully cover the widest portion of my behind, leading to discomfort. Consequently, my shopping escapades necessitated either adding extensions to tops or resorting to larger sizes, followed by meticulous alterations to attain the desired fit. It was during these moments that a notion struck me: why not design and make the clothing myself!
I studied fashion design in 1989, and the art of creating, modifying, and enhancing garments felt like second nature to me. Even during periods when my figure wasn’t as curvy, I had an innate penchant for layering my attire. This practice, in my view, not only facilitates the creation of timeless combinations but also effectively widens the range of choices within your wardrobe.
Furthermore, the aftermath of the Covid era has witnessed a significant shift towards online shopping. Consequently, I consider venturing into online clothing retail as a natural progression, as it is also a very convenient way to shop, and this is where Curvy Collections was born!
